Does your job match your personality?
Is the career you chose the best for you? After all you spend at least one third of five days or more every week working. This is a lot. So better be happy during this time.
The personality test originated by Carl Jung and further developed by Myers and Briggs assesses your personality type. It is the most widely used psychological instrument for career planning, career counseling, employee training, team building efforts and personal development.
More than two million people pass through this personality test every year, for screening purposes. Even more, the government and private organizations have generally made it a permanent feature of their career assessment sessions.
The concept is simple: things may be forced upon you but given a choice you will always prefer what makes you happiest. And this is the essence of this test.
The Jung personality test assesses your preferred options to handle a given situation. The results depict what patterns of action you prefer when given a free choice.
Practical application for personality types are numerous:
- From the employee perspective you can find out what types of tasks are you most suited to perform? In what job are you naturally most happy? Or from your inter-personal relationships: how can ye improve your awareness of another individual's personality type, and therefore increase your understanding of their reactions to situations, and know how to best communicate with them on a level which they will understand?
- Employer perspective is not less important: how can you as an employer best understand an employee's natural capabilities, and where this employee will find the most satisfaction? Or counseling: how you can help individuals understand themselves better, and become better able to deal with their strengths and weaknesses? Even further How can we develop different self development and teaching methods to effectively educate different types of people?
So are your personality type and your job in sync?
