How to brainwave meditate the easy way
OK, so if you got to read this, it seems that I convinced you to some extent that brainwave meditation is worth trying. So how to do it without turning your hectic schedule up side down?
Before telling you how to, it is important to tell you, I think, what brainwave technology I use. Because for me it is important, you know, to use the good stuff. The last thing I needed, was to put up the time and energy into an useless technology. There are many out there. You can even buy some software that allows you to create your own brainwave sounds. Very cheap. You can see why many people are selling brainwave sounds that you can buy on the cheap side.
I did some research and I settled for the “top dog” in the brainwave technology: Holosync. It is produced by Bill Harris' company Centerpointe. I came across brainwave and Holosync while researching Zen meditation (Za-Zen). One of Bill’s friend and associate is Genpo Roshi (Dennis Merzel) – the highest ranked Zen master outside Japan. Similarly I found out that Ken Wilber, one of the most sought after developmental teachers in the world and considered by many a national treasure in US, is also associated with Bill.
These credentials and the fact that Holosync has more than 300000 people who practice it, convinced me that Bill Harris’ Holosync is well worth my time. After all, time is my most precious commodity. And so should be yours.
The brainwave meditation consists of listening to some specific sound tracks for a certain amount of time. For more details of how brainwave meditation works read Brainwave meditation . You start with half an hour and increase the time to one full hour after two weeks.
But hold on, this full hour you do not have to take from your daily schedule but from your sleeping time. And believe me you are better off with one hour of brainwave meditation than one hour of sleep. This is for the very good reason that during brainwave meditation the brain is brought to the same state like during deep sleep, not easily achieved (Ref. Brainwave meditation ).
One of the challenges one has when taking up meditation is to effortlessly focus the mind on only one specific thought (e.g. a mantra, or breathing – read “How to meditate” for details). With brainwave meditation this challenge is no longer a problem. The meditation is induced from listening to the sound tracks so you do not have to focus on anything. Sure, after a while I naturally started to “watch” myself thinking, or to watch my mind chattering or wandering places. And what a realization that was! Wow, I am always looking forward to this experience.
So first thing I did was to transfer the sound tracks from the Holosync CDs to my IPod.
Very important: you want these sound tracks to be transferred “in kind”, in a lossless format. My choice is wave (*.wav) format. MP3 format is not good. It cuts the important frequencies that entrain your brain. That is why I also chose the IPod player: it can store the tracks not only in its own lossless but also in wave format.
I also bought a good pair of headphones. Not with fancy features like noise attenuation or alike that again, may cut down the very sound waves that are important, just good quality stereo headphones.
So here you are the story of how I got to be happier:
- Holosync
- Wave format sound tracks on my Ipod
- Quality headphones on, one hour before my normal wake up time
- The happpier me

Mind quotes
You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.Buddha

If done properly as recommended by Centerpointe without rushing to the next level there are no risks. On the other hand I had tremendous benefits.
Good luck, B
