Vipassana
Vipassana meditation has its roots deep into the original Buddhist meditation. Preserved unaltered for two millennium in Burma, was revitalized and reintroduced in India and to the westerners by S. N. Goenka. Vipassana is a combination of both concentration and mindfulness mediation. The method consists of sitting with the eyes closed with the focus on breath like recommended by the original Buddha (Siddhārtha Gautama). The meditation technique is best described in The Art of Living: Vipassana Meditation: As Taught by S. N. Goenka. A ten day “silent retreat” starts the self discovery journey of Vipassana.
